GRIS MEANS GRAY -

-

-
the DAMIR DOMA runway show
reminds me of how much i like wrappy things
and odd proportions
and gray.
-

-
in the parking lot at fred segal's
the PERFECT COLOR TO PAINT VESPER.
-
-
jo out with me at a sushi lunch.
i like that she always tries to match my moods.
gray.  and chic.
-

-
a new favorite.
barrett eidson.
more of him to come.

pretty things worth posting (early march edition with some stuff thrown in from february and january because it took me this long to get back up to speed so sue me.) -

-
-
during new york fashion week,
some guy stripped and did an erotic dance for a cigarette at an after party.
i need to go to more after parties.
-

-
any boy who has STRENGTH and COURAGE,
only, you know, in latin,
tatted on his thighs,
and has a blog as good as this:
is someone i can endorse.

keep it up pretty prince pelayo.
i'm watching.
-

-
the JULIUS runway show,
which reminded me that THIS
CAN
be my office attire
when the directing and photography really take off.
(note i said WHEN.  the bounce is happening.)
-
-
as if you had any doubt.

things that make me happy when i'm blue -

-
my gifted friend ophelia's office/design studio.  pretty work spaces make me happy.
-
-
tatyana's "honking" (i believe my mother would call it) engagement ring.
large diamonds make me happy.
diamonds the size of a person's head . . . inordinately so.
-
-
annie nichols latest facebook profile picture.
that's LOVE, people.
-
-
a late night picture txt from tim,
in nyc,
missing me.
-
-
remember when everyone was changing their facebook pictures to the celebrity everyone told them they looked like, and i said i looked like no one?
a friend sent me this picture and said i always reminded her of cate.
I'LL TAKE IT.
-
-
and yes, i get it.
i'll be back to my bitch-making self by monday.

good weekend. not so good week.

-
it's been one of those weeks.
stayed up til two in the morning putting together a pitch,
and while you don't get them all . . .
it's HARD to hear "we love your work and your ideas, if only you had one more ___ on your reel, but we'll keep you in mind for next time."
-
to which i always wonder,
how does one get the one more ___
if people aren't going to take the leap on you now?
-
down day here.
but that always changes.
just have to wait for what my sister calls "the bounce",
when we hit bottom, get pissed at ourselves for wallowing,
and get active again at changing . . .
everything.

intentionally cruel post on how good my husband is at, well, everything :

-
for our anniversary this year,
tim cheated.
-
he's had this on a "layaway" plan for months,
and gave it to me this week, remotely,
because he believes art commemorates the big moments in our lives,
and attaching a memory to art makes it personal.
-
this is "ethan green" by brandon herman.
-
-
like most grand gestures,
this one is huge.
literally.  it will take a whole wall.
-
which is appropriate for the eighteen years it took to get here.

BEHIND THE SCENES : a shoot for GUAPO magazine at CHURCH boutique

-
part of the evolution in my print work
is tackling as much as i can, on as many different fronts,
trial,
pushing myself,
finding the sweet spot,
and then pushing again.
-
the team was asked by a new men's fashion pub
to shoot an editorial inspired by tribes/savages.
-
we followed a "eton schoolboys meets lord of the flies" theme,
and shot on location at the amazing
Church boutique on santa monica in los angeles.
-
the store is more curated than it is merchandised,
and between bic owen's amazing stying of their merchandise and jewelry,
jo strettell's insane makeup,
parker tolifson's lighting,
and the inspiring models from NEXT,
we went a little wild ourselves:
-

-
the hundred thousand dollar or so indian diamond and pearl necklace
didn't hurt the "inspiration"
-
-
can't wait to share more.

i endore and adore : GALERIE HALF

-
i'm not going to gush too much about this one,
i think it's simpler to say that there are few places left that stop me
when i walk in the door.
-
galerie half on melrose in los angeles . . .
stunner.
-
i could simply and easily move into the space,
and then die,
happy.
-

-
perhaps it's that is sings aesthetically to everything tim and i have grown to love
over the years.
-
a blend of industrial spaces with old world/vermeer based colors and lighting.
-
intensely clean lined furnishings in masculine fabrics and leathers,
time-worn and tactile woods,
shapes that tell stories to the eye in the way.
-

-
the finishing touches,
from french lighting masters and found factory pieces,
to moss-filled planters and what must have been children's toys:
-

-
how about some vintage louis vuitton?
anyone?
richard christiansen, peut etre?
-

-
i was too afraid to ask about the initials.
-
and my new dining room table/work space:
-

-
nice touch with the pew, non?
-
best part of the store?
everything matches tim:

SEE THIS MOVIE : "AN EDUCATION"

-
finally,
a movie that reminded me why i LOVED movies.
no special effects.  no big stunts.
just a plot, killer dialog, great acting,
and a story that resonates.
-
that, and carey mulligan absolutely absorbs the lens,
and your attention,
for the whole time.
-
go.  now.
-
