different kinds of porn - the fashion edition

let's start with a shout-out to some of my favorite
fashion personalities:
-

-
the man with all that cleavage in his mouth
is the charming mr. derek blasberg,
my favorite style.com contributor,
and best twitter feed i have.
he attends, well, everything,
and feeds it out to the world with wit
and a touch of wonder that makes him privileged, but still charming in his wonder.
-

-
people may be swooning over lara stone right now,
but i still adore ms. sasha pivovarova,
for whom a head to toe rick owens look
while going from show to show
is commonplace.
-

-
somewhat fascinated by this kid,
pelayo,
who had a friend obsessively blog about how much she loved him,
until he gained enough internet buzz to become a "model".
-

-
kind of feeling brooke shields is under-rated.
don't know why.
-

-
kind of want ALL of the balmain homme line.
for obvious reasons.
-

-
i miss linda.
i miss when models had personalities.
i miss when models mattered.
-

-
i am stunned and insanely jealous that steven meisel has been shooting the covers
of vogue italia for eighteen years.  solid.
and now has a monograph on them.
-

-
love thom browne's scuba inspired line.
-

-
love the ps1 bag in gray suede.
-

-
and still obsessed by the givenchy haute couture collection,
and dying to see how it's hardware will influence the next season.

different kinds of porn - the architecture edition

-
for some people, modern architecture just seems to stark, too cold.
for tim and i, modernism has always cleared away the detail,
and with proper use of space, shown a new way of living.
imagine living here,
where the blend of inner and outer is almost seamless,
even in the way light must enter the space
depending purely upon shutters and daylight.
-

-
there is also something about the mix of materials
that always elevates a home.
you almost don't need art when you have concrete,
cold rolled steel,
and polished wide plank walnut.
well,
and fire.
-

-
or the visual impact of cut marble and resin.
-

-
we also love how glass and mirrors play agressively with spaces,
particularly in bathroom vignettes.
-

-
outside,
however,
we love how formal, almost traditional french design
can set off modernism.
it's always in the clash that you actually find serenity.
-

-
the proper staff doesn't hurt either
(gardener above for illustrative purposes only.)
