everyone thinks they know how evelyn and i work.
i'm the creative / she's the producer.
i'm the tempermental one / she's the calming influence.
we lead our departments as two parts of a whole, true. . .
but there is a dark side to the story.
they see us like this:
but in reality. . .
i'm just sayin.
picture = thousand words and all. . .

???where does todd o. fit into the picture?
i just discovered your blog thru the sartorialist! very fun! i plan to check in often...
your pooches are adorable!
ps- are you hiring?? :)
okay, i get totally weak-kneed when someone calls me "cutie." mr. editor is very understanding though. ;)
i was checking for your reply here actually, at the very moment you were replying on my blog. i'm very thorough that way. i knew the various roles you all play (been following your blog, after all), just wondering if you were looking forward to ... marketing his work. i crossed paths (literally, on the sidewalk) with mr. o once in ny a few years ago. he smiled at me and i smiled bigger and it wasn't until i crossed the street that i realized my lovely purple sweater vest had his label in it.
is he still designer la-z-boys?
oh, and re. this post - evelyn (love that name) looks like good people.
yeah, i just read about todd too! ur doing a great job at Old Navy, they really just need to give it some time.
that's so cool. . . about the todd thing. i haven't met him yet, but hear nothing but good things (nice guy/no ego/really collaborative). i'm just dying to have a partner on the design side who's excited to revive that part of the brand, and to give it a filter. i think his color and pattern sense are wonderful, and he's eager to design more modern collections.
and evelyn is amazing. good people is right.
so tell me. . . beyond being obsessed with fashion, what keeps your world humming?
thanks xavier! it's so nice to hear good stuff about the team's hard work. we'll keep trying to make it better n better.
in 10 words or less? oy, not possible.
beyond fashion? now, when you say beyond fashion, you mean like stuff behind fashion? like designers 'n stuff? :D
i have a love/hate relationship with marketing/advertising. i LOVE good advertising and i HATE bad advertising. mr. editor is good about letting me talk to the tv when i approve or feel insulted. i have a post on my blog about that, buying because of the good sell.
obsessed? obsessed is such a pathological term. let's say fascinated, intrigued, stimulated... in a perfect world i would wear tutus and wigs more often, i would own more pairs of shoes from varda (www.vardashoes.com) (but lord, they would not go with tutus... hmmm, a conundrum)...
and when you say fashion, you mean clothes, not fashion-y fashion, because i don't like fashion-y fashion, but i LOOOOO-OOOO-OOOOVE clothes. i like extreme clothes and ... the opposite.
professionally, it's strictly freelance writing for the past long while because it's terribly convenient. thankfully i'm writing about pets now (that's a recent development) and not fashion because when i was writing for fashion, i was getting jobs that required A LOT of creativity to write up awful stuff until i could not take it any more. no amount of $ is worth rolling on the floor in agony as you search your brain for yet another word to describe awful in a positive way. the good people at NBC are about to launch a pet site - and better yet, they're paying me to write for it (nice). i have a dog, or she has me (she also has a smell... but she's a shar-pei, so whaddayagonnado). i have other things, some are soft, some are shiny, some or more interesting, some are less, but i'm not going to put all that here for your devoted following to absorb. :p
