MOTTO TUESDAY - fear is the little death

sometimes,
you just gotta hand it to Red.

she wears the cape, she speaks (or sprays) the truth.

i used to love the mantra that characters in frank herbert's DUNE
would chant to ward off fear:

"I must not fear.
Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear.
I will permit it to pass over me and through me.
And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
Where the fear has gone there will be nothing.
Only I will remain."

in the end, the only thing holding us back from ourselves,
is ourself.

i like the poetic sentiment behind the chant, but i prefer the acute truth in the philosoffiti version.
